Facebook, oh the horror

Reading

We are trying to adopt 2 cats from a shelter or rescue. I am starting to realize that if I want to know when new cats come into the shelters or rescues, then I am going to have to join Facebook. Bah.

RIP Libby

Reading

Today we had a vet come to our house and put Libby to sleep. She had been suffering from kidney failure for the last two years but still able to do all necessary cat things until this week. Her hind legs finally gave two days ago. She would try to stand and then cry in pain. bumblepudding has been carrying her to pee, drink and eat but she stopped eating yesterday. It was really sad but we didn't want her to starve to death. She lived 17 years. She had a good life. I am really going to miss her.

47 percent

Reading

So, I am part of the 47 percent, according to Mitt Romney. I am a worthless deadbeat. Why is he determined to alienate people who might think he not a jackass?

Akin is an Idiot

Reading
I need to stop reading political news. I can't believe that there are people in charge of making law out there who can state that rape never causes pregnancy, so, of course, no woman would ever need an abortion. I mean, how stupid is that? Did Akin's brain get eaten by West Nile Virus?

And, I know he claims that 'legitimate rape' was a slip of the tongue, but changing the word to 'forcible' doesn't make it any better. I have to wonder if Akin thinks that Droit du seigneur is a legitimate method for conquest or if he's a moron that thinks history or current world events are irrelevant. There is not a single way he could 'claim' that he is mis-informed. There are hundreds of examples. By his logic, all those African women raped by soldiers in the Congo or Rwanda could not possibly ever get pregnant. Why have the Nuremburg or Tokyo Trials? Why bother to declare the resulting pregnancy a 'crime against humanity' if no woman could possibly get pregnant from rape?

We went to Disney World and rode Star Tours 3 times!

The new Star Tours is so very, very awesome.

Gingerbread 2011 - Magic Kingdom

Reading
Today, Bingo and Whirl came over and we attempted to build Cinderella's Castle and part of the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately, our tri-level castle collapsed when we attached the turret to the roof of the second floor and we had to go with a single-level castle. Also, bands of hungry wolves invaded and some princesses got eaten.

Outdoor Education

Reading

Hill is off on his outdoor education field trip. They left yesterday and it rained all day. Today, it is supposed to snow. I hope he is having a good time because I know I'd swear off all outdoor activities after this.

Phones and Texting

Reading

We have phoned up and purchased unlimited texting so we're all part of the cell phone community now. D feels a little left out because she doesn't have a phone but I pointed out that she can't read yet and she can hardly text if she can't read.

iPhone for boy

Reading

We're trying to decide if we should get the boy an iPhone or if this is too dangerous in 5th grade. We're getting him a phone. The question is only what kind of phone.

LJ App

Reading

I probably should have looked sooner to see that LJ had an app for the iPhone. I would have posted more this year.

I just carried D to bed. She fell asleep in our bed because she wanted to hold a cell phone (non-functional) over her eyes instead of getting a storybook. She is getting very heavy.
